Special Donation Drives

The YWCA of San Diego County serves hundreds of women and children each year through our programs, Becky’s House®, Passages, and the Cortez Hill Family Center. We rely on the support of community members to help provide the additional necessities that our clients lack. Our families are facing a difficult time and with your help, we can make things a little bit easier for them. We would greatly appreciate your support with NEW items for the following Special Holiday Drives:

	Valentine’s Day Needs: children’s Valentine’s Day cards (Grades K-12); candy; and holiday decorations. Drop Off Date: February 1
	Easter Needs: children’s Easter baskets filled with candy, toys, and gifts, for children ages 0-18; Easter baskets for adult women and men; candy; and holiday decorations. (Please do not include any religious information in the baskets). Drop Off Date: Date Varies.  We would like to receive the items 2 weeks before Easter Sunday.
	Mother’s Day Needs: body lotion; body sprays; make-up; scarves; and costume jewelry. Drop Off Date: Date Varies.  We would like to receive the items 2 weeks before Mother’s Day.
	Father’s Day Needs: shaving kits; cologne; sports t-shirts & hats; tickets to baseball game. Drop Off Date: Date Varies.  We would like to receive the items 2 weeks before Father’s Day.
	Summer Party Needs: Volunteers to host a summer themed party for children ages 0-18.  We are looking for sponsorship of the food, games, decorations and prizes.    Drop Off Date: Date Varies.
	Back To School Drive Needs: Backpacks and school supplies for grades K-12 including notebooks; binders;  pencils; erasers; pens; notebook paper; pencil boxes; etc.  Drop Off Date: August 20.
	Halloween Needs: Children’s costumes (Ages 1-18); candy; and holiday decorations. Drop Off Date: October 15
	Thanksgiving Needs: $25 Gift cards to shopping stores such Vons, Ralphs, Albertsons, Trader Joes, etc.; Turkeys and unopened holiday accoutrements; and holiday decorations. Drop Off Date: November 21
	Winter Holidays Needs: Gift cards; new toys and gifts for children of all ages; new gifts for women and men; holiday decorations; and holiday stockings. For our complete Holiday Wish List 2011, please click here to download PDF.  Drop Off Date: December 12

Vehicle Donations

Donating a Car, Boat, or RV that's no longer needed to the YWCA of San Diego County is a great way to provide critical funding to our programs.  The YWCA works with an organization called Action Donation Services in order to coordinate vehicle donations. 

Action Donation Services evaluates each and every donation on a case by case basis. Whenever financially beneficial, Action Donation Services will repair, refurbish, and properly prepare donated property for sale. The ultimate goal is to maximize the selling price. Action Donation Services also has the option of selling property on the retail market (not wholesale) in order to achieve the maximum resale value. When feasible, property which is sold at auction is carefully prepared to bring the maximum price. This unique feature of the Action Donation Services greatly increases the income generated for the charities for each donation. This can also dramatically increase the maximum legal tax deduction available for the donor. 

Action Donation Services will issue your tax receipt on behalf of the YWCA of San Diego County and mail it to you as soon as your donated property is sold.
